In War There Are No Winners Only Losers, and the survivors that live to talk about it is all
81Glorification of War
In War There Are No Winners......Only Losers
A wise man once said that it is human nature to destroy one another,
Death is unvoidable,
Life is meaningless nor is humanity capable of compassion or peace,
Many civil rights leaders preach peace all the time but is such a thing possible?
Peace is a dream,
an idea to present false hope when none is avail,
Or maybe our world is the dream,
a nightmare that we can't escape from,
why fight the inevitable?
Human beings have massacred whole civilizations for years,
Just for being different,
Either through skin tone or religion,
humanity continues to show it's ugly cold face,
Yet you preach peace?
how can you preach peace when in times of peace,
horrible and vulgar things happen
people murder, rape, steal, ridicule for nothing more than green pieces of paper
or worse, false pride
is this the level of compassion humanity is capable of?
countless of wars continue every generation,
some for money or power,
one was fought over love of a young woman as noble as it sounds,
however, others were fought for racism against ones religion or culture,
countless of lives die during each major war,
family and friends left in utter disarray and distraught,
yet do we learn from our past mistakes?
I say no as war continues to be the only constant in our lives,
innocent blood is shed while fat bureaucrats continue to profit off war,
many soldiers lives go unappreciated as many of them die needlessly everyday,
yet do we care?
no, we'd rather glorify sports and celebrity icons whom false pride is held cheap,
while a nameless soldier dies in vain,
so why do we persist?
what's the point?
peace is a bad joke,
peace is nothing more than a convoluted dream that cannot be attained,
so why try?
is it not in our very nature to destroy ourselves,
yet like a fool in love I say nay,
it's often said that love and madness tend to share the same traits,
although I doubt in my heart a world without war or suffering could not ever come into fruition,
If anything, my heart refuses to believe in such nonsense
believing that deep down humanity is capable of some compassion for peace,
believing that there is a bit of good in all of us, no matter how corrupt,
although my hopes of a better world maybe no more than a convoluted dream,
I still refuse to believe or accept thine fate,
to be doomed to live in a society that knows no compassion,
as tomorrow is another day,
and who knows what tomorrow might bring

Very powerful stuff here Steve. This is really good. I have to agree with what Beth said. Drugs, violence, and corruption are what is creating this hell that we live with.
Steve - great aspirations and much truth, as a survivor of several wars, it is not something you want, but at times is driven by necessity, for some must stand against evil when it shows its ugly head. Great hub and you have a new fan.
Very inpiring and so true Steve, definately the part about soldiers and Celebrities. Great work :-)
amazing hub .. keep going !
I cannot agree more, and yet I have to try. Maybe that is the point, to try and hope others do to. I am sorry I missed this before. I love your reviews, but this is so much more important to say than anything said in the movies.
OMG Steven that was awesome, great layout too you superstar. I gave you two thumbs up.
Thanks for sharing your talent with us

hi there, great hub good pics, like the way you did the fun top, then reality bottom! btw, the link at bottom under this is broken, the one that says "meet those that were there".
great work! ~aloha~
There might not be (there is NOT) a chance that humanity will change, but getting those few people, whether thousands or just one person to understand, to find the good in their hearts and bring it out does count for something. Those people are the next generation. The only reason we're repeating our mistakes though is because we have the same people in control, the same lousy, ignorant, vile people still have the power, sadly. Plus all of the world's leaders are definitely not on the same page. First it was about survival, now it's about making money. We share the same planet people! That MUST count for something. Anyways, I understand what you're saying, but I will never give up on peace. I believe there is a world of peace, just not on planet earth of course. But peace itself does exist within little tiny clusters of people on Earth.
This poem is thought provoking, and inspiring.
It actually gave me a poem idea of my own....
Thanks for sharing, and helping with an idea .... LOL.
Take Care,

Hey Thanks for the hub
war is a game like 'chess'
Good, hub! We are capable of great passion. This passion is a two edge sword producing beautiful acts of love and staggering atrocities revealing the nature of its wielder.
As one 'fool in love,' to another. I too will hold the dream. And all those who have posted here show that we aren't alone.
It will come.
war is brutal and grim we have to see its horrible side

War, violence, guns, drugs and so forth are all glorified in society, desensitizing our youths and ourselves. Well written Steven. Like the contrast of a cute cuddly kitty and the cold sniper rifle.
